Stellar Side Twos

Enjoying and listening to music used to be a communal, album-oriented adventure. With the advent of the CD and the subsequent rise of the MP3, everyone with a computer and iTunes is now a DJ. Music has slowly transformed into a chaotic, never-ending playlist of shuffled songs, characterized by disorganization and random chance. Gone are the days of the "album side", when the track listing actually meant something. This blog will showcase my picks for albums that have phenomenal side twos (or threes, or fours) thanks to the careful selection of the order of the tracks. These artists created albums engineered to flow a certain way, resulting in a remarkable musical experience.

A lot of my selections are older, but as I said, this sort of thing used to matter if you were a halfway decent musician.

1. David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust, side 2

2. The Who - Who Are You, side 2

3. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin II, side 2
